What are your visiting hours?

3 North (medical/surgical nursing and pediatrics): 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Birthing Center: Fathers and grandparents are welcome at any time, but we do ask that visits be kept between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and 4 - 8 p.m. when possible. Please, no children under the age of eight unless a sibling.  For the safety and security of our patients in the Birthing Center, NARH has installed a security system. Only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed onto the unit.

Critical Care Unit: Visits are limited to the immediate family. Visits are allowed for 20-minute periods at the following times: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Greylock Pavilion: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 - 7:30 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 2 - 4 p.m.

Only two visitors should be at a patient's bedside at any one time.  Visiting children should be limited to those of the patient.

 

How do I get to your facilities?

How can I reach a patient in the hospital?

You may call our main number (413-664-5000) and ask for a patient by name.

 

Can I find out if a relative or friend is in the hospital?

If you call our main number at 413-664-5000, our switchboard operator can tell you if a friend or relative is in the hospital.  You must ask about the person by name.  We are only able to offer limited information about any family member who is hospitalized.

 

How do I find a primary care physician?

Please call our Physician Referral Line at 413-664-5240.  We will assist you in finding a local primary care doctor who is accepting new patients.

 

What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a doctor who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital. These doctors do not have an office practice. At North Adams Regional Hospital, hospitalists are general internal medicine physicians. Some of them may have additional subspecialty training. Internal medicine doctors are trained to diagnose and treat disease in adults.

Do you have a translation service?

Yes.  For those patients who desire it, NARH offers a translation service in many languages. Just let your nurse or other care provider know.  Video sign language interpreters are also available 24 hours a day for the deaf and hard of hearing.

 

I have a billing question.  Who can I call?

Our Patient Accounting office can be reached at 413-664-5021 for any questions about a balance on your bill. 

 

Can I pay my bill at the hospital?

Yes.  Our Patient Accounting office can accept payments; the office is located on the third floor of Clark House.

What is the difference between NARH and Northern Berkshire Healthcare?

Northern Berkshire Healthcare is the name of the family of local healthcare organizations that includes NARH.  The hospital's sister organization is the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire.  Together, we're providing exceptional care from the heart in North Berkshire!

I don’t have an advance directive.  Can you help?

NARH staff members can discuss the advantages of having an advance directive completed and on file with the hospital.  On admission, you will be asked if you have named a healthcare proxy.  You may complete a short form at the hospital.

 

How can I get a copy of my medical records?

Please call the NARH Medical Records office at 413-664-5200 for assistance in obtaining copies of your medical record.

 

Can I pre-register for procedures or tests?

To speed your service, we encourage pre-registration at NARH.  Please call our Pre-registration line at 413-664-5555 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

 

Can I use my cell phone in the hospital?

We discourage the use of cell phones in any patient care area of the hospital.  However, you may use cell phones from waiting areas and the lobby, and outdoors.

 

Can I use my laptop computer in the hospital?

Yes.  NARH has wireless Internet access available throughout the hospital, including waiting areas.
