(July 24, 2008)  The 15^th Annual NBH Open Golf Tournament, sponsored by Williamstown Savings Bank, raised more than $78,000 for Northern Berkshire Healthcare’s Annual Fund, Donald Keagan, co-chairman of the NBH Golf Tournament Committee, announced today.  Thirty-four teams participated on Friday, June 13 at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit renovations to patient care areas at North Adams Regional Hospital. These needed renovations will enhance patients’ healthcare experience and quality of care at NARH.

“Our sponsors’ generous contributions once again made this event a terrific success,” said Bruce Grinnell, chairman of the NBH Development Committee.  “Williamstown Savings Bank’s $15,000 sponsorship of the golf tournament allowed us to offer a top-notch tournament while raising more than $78,000 for local health care.”

Bank president Steve Crowe said his institution was pleased to support the tournament again and help NBH and NARH provide excellent health care services to the community. “Maintaining high quality, locally based health care is crucial for our community and our local economy,” said Crowe.  “Speaking on behalf of everyone at Williamstown Savings Bank and MountainOne Financial Partners, we want to do our part to ensure that NARH and the rest of our local healthcare system are as strong and vibrant as they can be.”

Rick Palmisano, CEO and president of Northern Berkshire Healthcare, offered his personal thanks to the sponsor.  “The hospital is very appreciative of the bank’s long-standing commitment, and on behalf of all of the employees of NARH, I want to say thank you.  This was a tremendous effort, and it produced incredible results.  Our thanks also to the many sponsors and raffle prize donors, and of course to all the golfers.”
