(Sept. 26, 2011) North Adams Regional Hospital will continue its series of free question-and-answer sessions with a discussion of women’s medical imaging on Tuesday, October 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The free event, “Early Detection for Women: Keys to Prevention,” takes place at the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Community Room. Refreshments will be served and participants can enter a raffle to win passes to the North Adams Garden Movieplex. Registration is requested by calling 413-664-5142 or emailing email@example.com.
The panel will include Jeffrey Bath, MD, Linda Bailot, Debra Corkins, and Polly Macpherson, manager of the REACH for Breast Health program at NARH. They will answer questions on women’s imaging and breast health including mammography, bone densitometry, ultrasound, breast cancer and other subjects.
Dr. Bath is a board certified radiologist with Greylock Radiology Associates and has practiced in north Berkshire since 2005. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed residencies in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester and in diagnostic radiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He is chief of radiology at NARH and president of the NARH Medical Staff.
Debra Corkins is NARH’s lead mammographer and lead Nuclear Medicine technologist, certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both mammography and nuclear medicine. Linda Bailot, lead technologist for NARH’s bone density program, is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. Polly Macpherson, program manager of REACH for Breast Health, is a certified breast health navigator.
NARH’s Medical Imaging Department is a designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, and the hospital’s cancer program is approved with commendation by the American College of Surgeons. REACH for Breast Health is a member of the National Consortium of Breast Centers, Inc.
