Mom's Night Out
Mom's Night Out is Monday, April 28 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the North Adams Regional Hospital Main Lobby. Although the focus is on mothers, all women are encouraged to attend. There will be free massages, healthy snacks and beverages, one-stop mammogram scheduling, plenty of health and nutrition information, a stress buster workshop "20 Minutes for Yourself" conducted by Maggie Bittman, beauty consultations, Photo-Fun with Sue Bush (create a personalized Mother's Day card), private health consultations with Liz Toomajian, Certified Nurse Practitioner and of course raffle prizes. REACH Community Health Forums
Sundays at 3 p.m. on Channel 15 (Northern Berkshire Community Television). Topics include Caregiving, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Bone Health and Safety, and Tobacco Cessation.

Women’s and Men’s Health Screenings

Women’s and men’s health screenings are offered monthly for those over 18 who have no insurance or whose insurance does not cover preventative screenings. All individuals will receive screenings for heart disease risk factors; cholesterol, blood pressure, height and weight and fasting blood sugar. REACH will also calculate each person’s risk of having a heart attack in the next 10 years and counsel him/her on ways to reduce their risk. Participants can sign up for a FREE fitness consultation with a certified personal trainer. Men between the ages of 18 and 40 will receive information on testicular cancer self-exams. Men over the age of 40 who are at high risk for prostate cancer, or those over the age of 50, can also receive a FREE Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test and a Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) to screen for prostate cancer.
HIV/Sexually Transmitted Disease Screening
First and third Thursdays of each month, ACC Suite 210
(NARH Campus), 1:00 p.m.
HIV/STD and Hepatitis C testing is available on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 1:00 p.m., in Suite 210 of the Ambulatory Care Center on the NARH campus. Confidential and be anonymous, no charge although donations are accepted. Those wishing to be tested should call 413-447-2653 for an appointment.
Eileen Barrett Women’s Cancer Support Group

The Eileen Barrett Women’s Cancer Support Group has updated its schedule and format. The Group now meets once a month at the Clark House Building on the North Adams Regional Hospital Campus. The first hour features an expert /specialist on a topic of interest to women dealing with cancer. A short break with light snacks follows the first hour. The second hour is a support group session offered in a confidential setting, facilitated by a professional therapist, topics and issues chosen by participants. Community members who want to quit smoking are encouraged to attend. Quitters are Winners is a four-week program offering support and strategies to help you stay smoke-free! Registration is just $20; if you complete the program by attending all four weeks, the fee will be refunded to you. Information on nicotine replacement therapy also available.
