Activities at Sweet Brook (413) 458-8127
Sweet Brook Transitional Care & Living Centers recognizes that activities are vital to the health of our residents. That's why we design comprehensive, individualized activity plans for all of our long-term care and dementia residents. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of professional therapeutic activity services for all residents.
The Activities Department staff is dedicated to addressing the spiritual, recreational, educational, social, and cultural needs of our residents.
Activities are conducted from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with special evening activities on Wednesdays. Sweet Brook residents celebrate Mother's Day with a Mother's Day Tea (our most popular event); enjoy a holiday open house; attend local baseball games and outdoor concerts; and every Monday a group of residents leaves Sweet Brook for a community luncheon. Other events include trips to the nearby Berkshire Mall, and Drury High School Senior Citizen Prom.
For those who desire it, pet therapy is included twice a week in our activity schedule. Personal pets are also welcome to come for visits! Please check with our staff for details.
A typical day of activity at Sweet Brook might include choral group, individual visits, a spiritual study group, bingo, volleyball, even a kazoo band! Residents also enjoy music programs, computer access, and arts and crafts programs.
Activity Programs for Dementia Patients
The dementia patient's need for routine drives the Activity Program for Linden Court (our specialized dementia care unit). Each day begins with a morning social, followed by an arts group. After lunch, there is a period of individual activity or rest and relaxation; then a video presentation, quiet time, sensory integration (to promote or maintain an optimal level of awareness), movement group, spiritual time, and an evening socail.
