|REACH hosts Girls' Night Out Sept. 22|
Sep 14, 2011
(Sept. 14, 2011) REACH for Community Health, the community health education arm of North Adams Regional Hospital, is sponsoring its eighth Girls’ Night Out on Thursday, September 22, in the main lobby at North Adams Regional Hospital from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Women of all ages are invited to attend this free event. There will be healthy snacks and beverages available and information on health and wellness issues of special importance to women. Call REACH at (413) 664-5321 for more information.
“Girls’ Night Out is a fun and educational event, and a good chance to have a night out with friends and neighbors while learning together about the many elements that make up a woman’s overall health and well-being,” said Program Manager Polly Macpherson.
Women will have the opportunity to talk to a wide range of professionals about their health. Registered Dietitian Kristin Irace will be providing healthy recipes and information on women’s health and nutrition. For women over 40 who have not had a mammogram this year, staff from the hospital’s Medical Imaging Department will be on hand to schedule an appointment. There will also be information available on how to get help in quitting smoking.
“Wellness is knowing your personal health risks, then setting realistic goals to feel and look good,” said Macpherson. “We invite local businesses who help women achieve these goals to join us.” Massage therapists from In Touch Day Spa and other local practitioners will offer 15-minute complimentary massages. These services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and attendees should sign up when they arrive. Two Reiki practitioners will be on hand to give brief individual “tunings” and information about the healing and pain relief power of Reiki. New to the event is Zumba Instructor Becky Miner who will offer demonstrations of the popular Latin-inspired dance fitness program.
